The Fleets

Ångfartyg A/B Bore / Bore Steamship Co.

The Bore Steamship Company Ltd was founded in 1897 to provide regular traffic from and to Turku, Finland, mainly between Turku, Mariehamn and Stockholm.

For more than 70 years Bore transported passengers and cargo on the route to Sweden from both Turku and Helsinki, but there was also a regular route from Turku to Lübeck, Germany. Bore was also one of the parent companies in the Silja Line.
After World War I the company’s cargo business grew and from 1927 to 1965, Bore was a member of the Finland South America Line. From 1980 Bore entirely concentrated on cargo traffic.

In 1987 Bore was absorbed by Oy Rettig and a new company with the name Bore Line was formed to operate the liner traffic. In 1991 the Bore Line operations were transferred into the Finnlines Group. Today the Rettig Group through Bore Shipowners, is still engaged in shipping as a shipowner.
