The FleetsChesapeake and Ohio Steamship Company
The Chesapeake and Ohio Steamship Company started Liverpool - Newport News sailings in
1893 in partnership with Furness to carry cargo, emigrants, cattle and troops. The ships were
fitted with portable hinged fittings to enable cattle to be carried from America to Britain and
emigrants or cargo to be carried in the same spaces on the return voyage. In 1907 all ships were
transferred to the main Furness Withy fleet and Chesapeake & Ohio lay dormant until 1912 when
the company was temporarily revived as owners of two ships. In 1913 the company was
completely absorbed by Furness Withy and went into voluntary liquidation.
Ships' histories are given while owned by the C&O / Furness group.

following list was extracted from various sources. This is not an all inclusive
