The Nederlandsch-Amerikaansche Stoomvaart Maatschappij Company was founded
1871 as Plate, Reuchlin & Company in Rotterdam. In April, 1873 the
Holland America Line was formed. After about 1970, the company's passenger
ships were used for cruising.
