Saturday November 17th, 1849:- the barque Himalaya, 477 tons, Langford, Master, from London.
Passengers: Mrs. Langford, Rev'd. Fred. Platt and W. Smith MD, surgeon-superintendent in the cabin.
The following deaths occurred during the passage, but with one exception, all to the northward of the Equator:— 2 of consumption ; 2 of tabes ; 7 of dysentery (out of 12 attacked) ; 8 of cholera (out of 42 attacked) ; 7 of inflammation of the bowels ; 1 of puerperal fever ; 2 of inflammation of the brain. . . . — 22nd ship from England to S.A. with government passengers for 1849 ; —?— births and 29 deaths on the passage ; Dr. Smith, surgeon-superintendent.
