The Sydney Shipping Gazette (SSG) reports . . September 13:- Reliance, ship, 805 tons, Fell, from Liverpool and Plymouth 10th June, with 313 Government emigrants, J. Robertson, surgeon-superintendent..—10th ship from England to S.A. with government passengers for 1851 ; James T. Robertson, surgeon-superintendent ; five births & nineteen deaths on the passage; note spelling and name variations and age discrepancies

Saturday, September 13:-The ship Reliance 805 tons, Fell master, from Liverpool and Plymouth 10 June 1851 with 313 Government Emigrants Dr. J. Robertson Surgeon-Superintendent.

The Reliance tried the great circle sailing, and found it advantageous, having been, on July 30th, in lat. 27° 55' S, and long. 32° 31' W, and made Kangaroo Island on the 11th September ; doubling the Cape on 14th August, in lat 51°, and the highest latitude being 64° south. She never had to close-reef the topsails, and the thermometer was never lower than 31° at 9 o'clock in the morning.
