The Fleets

United American Lines

Formed 1926 between American Ship & Commerce Corporation, New York, an offshoot of the American-Hawaiian Line and Hamburg America Line to operate a joint North Atlantic passenger service. By 1926 HAPAG had recovered sufficiently from their war losses to commence weekly sailings to the USA and the American chairman, William A. Harriman after discussions with HAPAG, transferred three ships to the German owners. The other three ships transferred to the New York - California route and were later scrapped or sold.

Many thanks to Ted Finch for his assistance in collecting this data. The following list was extracted from various sources. This is not an all inclusive list but should only be used as a guide.
